Samba Showcase Choreography

Start standing apart from Man, visually observe and sense the start of the dance 

1. Whisk with RF to side (1 a2)

2. Whisk with LF to side (3 a4)

3. Circular Volta to R (5 a6 a7 8 - drop Volta at end)

   • Shape body to L (R side stretched), L arm sweep

4. Whisk w/ LF (1 a 2) (Repeat on L side)

5. Whisk w/ RF (3 a4) 

6. Cicular Volta to L (5 a6 a7 8 - Drop Volta at end)

7. Diagonal Whisk w/ RF, moving toward Man, but looking to L (1 a2)

   • swivel at end to prepare to move diagonal to Man to get closer to Man

8. Diagonal Whisk w/ LF, moving toward man. (3 a4)

   • At end, start connecting with Man on L side, 

9. Samba Locks (5 a6 a7 a8)

   • Connected with Man on L side, RH starting on Man's chest during locks, end in Promenade position RH connect with Man's LH.

10. Slow and Quick Swivels, prepare for runs (1 2 3 a4 5 a6 7 a8)

    • 1 2: Slow swivels LF/RF: landing straight leg, keeping upper body parallel to Man, not moving much. Focus on twisting hips.

    • 3 a4: Quick swivels: LF/RF/LF

    • 5:  Swivel on LF, RF cross in front and turn 180 (perpendicular to Man now)

    • a: pelvis tilt with feet together on both balls of feet

    • 6: butt back, end with weight on RF, LF free to move

    • 7 a8: full turn to L to end in shadow position with Man, 

      • end with weight on LF, R hip high, leave head behind, i.e. look to R at this time, prepare for Cruzado Walks

11. Cruzado Walks (1 2)

    • RF fwd, head sharp turning L to look straight fwd.

12. Cruzado Locks (3a4)

13. Cruzado Locks (5a6a7a8) Open more to R, look to R, to audience

    • 7a8: bigger step push fwd.

14. Syncopated crosses (1a2 3a4) moving forward

15. Circular Voltas to R (5a6a78)

    • a7 8: drop volta, facing Man. LH patty cake with Man, R arm to side

16. Spot Volta to L (1a2) End with patty cake with Man, with RH

    • Spot Man, turn head last, sharp. 

17. Spot Volta to R (3a4) 

18. Promenade Runs with pivots (5a6 7 a8 1 a2 3a4 pivot  5 a6 a78), end LF in front, R leg back, R hip high

    • 5 a6 7 a8 1 a2: Promenade Runs

    • 3 a4: straight leg pivots

    • 5 a6: Promenade run

    • a7 8:  a78: a: RF to side (facing Man now), 78: LF crosses tightly back, hold on 8

19. Twists

    • a1a2a3a4a5a6: a: RF small step to R, 1: LF crosses in front; a: RF small step to R,  LF crosses in back, repeat

    • a78: RF to side and turn to R and hit the pose - R knee bent, L leg to side (Or both legs straight, weight in middle)

20. Pose and hip roll

    • 1 2: switch hit line to L side,  L leg bent, R leg straight. L arm up

    • 34: comb hair, RF kick back and collect R leg next to L leg, 2 bent knees.

    • 5678: 2 slow hip rolls, ending legs straight, butt back, L arm forward, R arm to side.

21. Kicks

    • 1 a2: LF fwd, RF to side, LF point, R arm forward, L arm on waist.

    • a3 a4: LF to side, RF fwd, LF to side, RF point

    • a5 a6: RF to side, LF point; LF to side, RF point (or for variation: could be a Samba checked action), can keep both arms on waist.

    • 78: RF slide bigger step to R, LF closes to RF with weight, R arm high for styling

22. Slow and Quick Batcucadas (1 2& 3 4&  5&a 6&a 7&a 8)

    • Start with RF small kick and then crossing in the back.

23. Prepare for Shadow roll: (1 2 3 a4 5 6 7 8)

    • 12: 1: RF side step, R arm up: 2: LF collects next to RF without weight, finishing in Rolling of the arm position.

    • Rolling off the arm action (rolling in part): 3&4: 3: LF step, turning L; &: RF step; 4: LF small side step to L; &: RF tap next to LF without weight

    • a5 6: a: RF to side, 5: LF fwd, in boto fogo position, 6: L arm extends fwd, no weight change

    • 78&: RF back with weight, LF small step to side, &: RF closes to LF, upper body does one full reverse roll

24. Shadow Reverse Roll (12& 34& 56& 78&)

25. Spin out and sit (1 a2 a34)

    • 1 a2: LF/RF/LF one turn

    • a: keep turning to L, step onto RF

    • 34: LF back and sit and hold on 4
