Ocho Cortado
Ocho Cortado
Start:
Various options
Start from position 3 of 8 Count Basic
Start from doing forward ocho with Lady's RF fwd.
Start from rock step. Lady's RF rock back, LF replace, then RF fwd)
Lady
Example, after position 3, LF back in Basic.
Lady RF back, rebound:
Elasticity: Lady "pulls" her R hip "back"/"side" more for elasticity, R knee bent, before changing direction.
Man stops at 50%, Lady keeps going back and doesn't stop and bounce back.
Do not pull hip back in a way that sticks the butt out. The feeling is R hip goes to the *side*, displacement.
The L leg is kept straight with tone, pointed LF, articulate, show off L leg line. R hip displacement.
Replace weight back onto LF.
RF fwd, point the foot without weight first, "breathe" and wait.
RF really crosses in front, so it won't hit Man, more room. R hip lower. Don't put hip fwd, hip is quite flexed, bent, vertical, just lower R side to extend R leg further across.
Man could lead Cortado, transferring Lady's weight fwd onto her RF; or he could very well lead Lady RF to go back again. So, do not assume, wait for lead.
Lady steps her LF fwd (smaller step, don't pull Man), because o body is turning, it's almost a side step.
Lady swivels on ball of the feet, Man lowers Lady into her L knee to sit into her hips,
Man sends Lady a littler further than himself for elasticity, makes her L hip go further ("bounce" elasticity). L hip side and out.
Lady's hip is about perpendicular to Man's torso, not side by side with Man's hip. Lady has her hip to her left, displacement.
R leg straight, can have foot pointed or R toe flipped up/turned out (embellishment).
Lady overturns her hip/body/shoulder to R a bit (to wind up). R hip open.
Do not lean back and take arm with body. Instead, sit, hip overturn to R a bit, pitch fwd and leave arms with Man.
Head looking forward (not away to R, not keep all the way to Man either, which will be too twisted.)
Then Lady step onto her RF (let body start rotating sooner to left, don't do Latin style on RF and then sharp turn. make movement smooth, wind up, recoil, untwist) Swivel into a cross (LF cross in front of RF) Cruzada.
Elasticity: hip laterally to R and L.
End with resolution (softer action, lift Lady), or if continue with another cortado, the action RF going back is stronger (changing energy, more energy).
Man
Man does not lead the swivel when Lady is on her RF, instead he leads Lady to keep moving fwd with her LF and then turn her to her R.
Quick: Leader steps forward with LF using CBMP, small step, without fulling committing weight. There should be no lowering, should stay at same level. As follower starts to put her weight on RF, leader pulls back on right shoulder blade to give energy to bounce back (rebote). Follower's hip will go a little farther than her shoulders.
Quick: Leader returns full weight to RF
Slow: Leader takes small step back with LF in line with RF. This is necessary to keep the follower moving.
Quick: Leader turns hips and frame right, takes small side step with RF (this does diagonally back right from perspective of original line). Step should be small to allow follower to step past. Provide tension in left hand at end of that Quick to snap the follower back for the rebote, or rebound. Follower's hips should go a little farther than her shoulders. Leader should not be lowering on this step, should stay flat
Slow: Leader brings RF to LF, collecting, squaring up frame to line, this will lead follower to cross LF in front or RF (cruce).
Can proceed from here with resolution (resolucionI).
