West Coast Swing Turning Basic

This pattern starts in open facing position and ends in closed position.

Leader

• 1: LF diagonally back slightly to side

  • step out of the slot

• 2: RF forward

  • there is resistance with with lady.

  • Catch lady.

• 3: LF to side | turn 1/4 to R

  • Close up with lady.

• &: RF cross in front of LF | turn 1/4 to R

  • Lady is doing coaster step.

  • Give it a rubber band effect.

• 4: LF side | continue rotating to R

• 5&6: Triple to right side after 1/4 to R. | total turn is 3/4 to R

Follower

• 1: RF forward

  • directly forward in slot.

• 2: LF forward, then 1/2 to R at end of count | 1/2 turn to R

• 3: RF back

  • This is a "Coaster Step"

• a: LF close together with RF

• 4: RF forward | rotating 1/4 to L

  • lady is stepping straight in middle of Man's feet.

• 5&6: Triple step to her left.

  • do triple after rotating 1/4 L at end of previous step 5.
